Retro to Metro

Retro to Metro

Thalassemia Society Pune Chapter (TSPC) successfully hosted a fundraising event, “Retro to Metro” by Melody Makers, on May 8th at Nehru Memorial Hall, Pune, to celebrate World Thalassemia Day.

The event was a tremendous success, with over 700 enthusiastic attendees, including more than 170 Thalassemia warriors and their families. The audience enjoyed an energetic evening of popular Bollywood music performed by the renowned Melody Makers. This 64-year-old institution, led by Pravinkumar Saraf and featuring talented vocalists like Jitendra Bhuruk and Amol Yadav, delivered a world-class performance that everyone highly praised. The Melody Makers group didn’t just perform for the crowd; they connected with them and received multiple “once more” requests from the audience.  People loved every single second of it, they were dancing, recording videos with their friends, and waving their phone flashlights in the air. It was a truly memorable musical evening.

Beyond the music, the evening served as a vital platform for Thalassemia awareness. Dr. Nita Munshi, President of TSPC, welcomed our guests and highlighted the organization’s “3 C’s” mission: Care, Cure, and Curb. She specifically emphasized the critical importance of HBA2 testing to determine Thalassemia Trait status.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors: Apulaki Medical Centre, New India Cables, Transasia, and Prakash Medicals. We were also honored to have continued CSR support from Bajaj Finance, Mukul Madhav Foundation, and CRIF Solutions.

Thank you to our sponsors, well-wishers, and the public for your continued support in making this event a hit and helping us move closer to a Thalassemia-free future.
