Prevention-ZERO Thalassemia

We at the Thalassemia Society are committed for Prevention and Awareness drives in and around Pune. We have set a goal to achieve ZERO Thalassemia birth of new Patients in Pune by the year 2020.

As a part of this, we are planning to cover all corporates and colleges. We have conducted major awareness campaign in Infosys, Wipro, Fiat, VW, to name a few- where we have collected more than 500 samples for screening and are in process of counselling affected people with Thalassemia Trait. We are in process of similar mass awareness campaign / screening for prevention in various communities to create awareness of the disease condition .

Mission Statement

The Thalassemia Society Pune Chapter was founded by patients, parents and friends affected by Thalassemia. The foundation provides hope, comfort and encouragement to those battling this disorder. At the heart of the organization is a strong desire to help improve the quality of life for all patients with Thalassemia. We volunteer our time to organize conferences, raise funds to educate the community, ensure patients and parents know the latest in care.The foundation maintains a strong relationship with the medical community that provides diagnosis, treatment and care.

Fundraiser - Unchained Melody - Musical Evening on the occasion of International Thalassemia Day - 8th May 2022


Thalassemia Society Pune Chapter ( TSPC ) is proud to present Unchained Melody - Musical Evening on the occasion of International Thalassemia Day - 8th May 2022 at Symbiosis, Viman Nagar - Old campus, Pune 411014. 

Thalassemia Major patients need blood transfusions every 2-4 weeks for their survival from the age of 8-10 months for life. TSPC helps our Thalassemia warriors by providing free medicines,  subsidized leukocyte filters. We also promote awareness drives and screening programs to eradicate Thalassemia and prevent birth of a thalassemia major child in the future.

A musical evening will be performed by DOCS ( Doctors' Orchestra for Charity and Social Services ) who are doctors by profession and talented musicians/singers.  DOCS has hosted over 200 musical programs over 18+ years.

Team encompasses many well known doctors like
1.  Chief Rhythmist – Dr. Dasmit Singh ( Paediatric Surgeon )
2. Dr. Supriya Gadekar ( Radiology consultant ) who has been awarded with Zee Gaurav Puraskar, semi finalist in Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa,
3. Dr. Kamlesh Bokil ( Cancer Surgeon ) .

DOCS has performed across 15 cities in India and in front of celebrities like Jackie Shroff, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Amol Palekar, Nana Patekar.  

This musical program is arranged on International Thalassemia Day as a fundraiser to be used for better life of Thalassemia warriors and prevention initiatives. Mr. Jackie Shroff who is brand ambassador of TSPC will be a chief guest along with other esteemed guests from the community.
